This lock is such great quality. The sturdiness and consistent color make it a great addition to our older home's front door. The August software was easy to connect to my app. Now I can control who accesses our home and monitor traffic when I'm away. And DHE has amazing customer service. Highly recommend!!

Q: What happens if the battery dies on this unit? Can it be opened with a backup key?

A: You should have an alternative way of entry. There is no back up key.

Q: Our project has a double door entry, we would like to use this entry set on one door, what would be the matching dummy set product for the other door?

A: There is no dummy function for the Empowered Deadbolt portion. You can order the lower grip portion with interior lever or knob by choosing Lower Portion No Deadbolt under the Function Option of the non electronic Baden Handleset(link below).

Q: What happens if the batteries go dead? Can you still open and lock the door from the outside?

A: NOTE TO INSTALLER AND CONSUMER
While EMTEK has included several features to prevent lockout (9V battery jumper,
low battery warnings), it is still possible for a lockout situation to occur. Because this
product does not have a mechanical override (a key), EMTEK recommends to use this
product in an environment where there are additional entry points into the dwelling.

When using the backup 9V battery to unlock from the outside of the door, should the battery actually connect to the exterior or just be “held” against the terminal? And in which direction should it be held to avoid reverse polarity?
The 9V battery will not “connect” to the bottom of the keypad – you just hold it in place to make contact. The connection is meant to be momentary, in case the owner accidently lets the batteries run completely down – and this is to be used as a “jump start” to let you enter a code to gain entry to the home. Please note: both the lock and the app give many warnings as the batteries get low. There is no need to worry about the 9V battery polarity. The lock will work fine regardless of which way you hold the 9V battery.
