Emtek 86087 T Strike with Square Corners

Unable to use. The small opening in the center for the latch is 1/4" too short. This Emtek part has the same exterior dimensions as the original brass striker and did fit into the cut-out in the jamb. However, the latch couldn't engage because the recess did not open long enough to align with and allow the door latch to engage. No adjustments could be made in the steel jamb -- certainly not the full quarter inch margin needed. Can the item be returned?
