Emtek 3309 Versailles Mortise Handleset

I have an antique house built in 1911 with an original Yale push button mortise lock set that has suffered over the years with a broken deadbolt and cylinder set screw and after a few years of trying to find a comparable original Yale unit to repair or retrofit I decided on the EMTEK Mortise lock as a replacement. Doorhardwareetc offered the best online price I could find and also great customer service. Once I got the hardware, I was impressed with the heavy weight and solid construction of the mortise unit and the attractive detail and heavy quality construction of the door plates, latch and handle that is actually superior to the antique Yale unit It replaced. The finish is beautiful and the whole thing goes beyond complementing the exterior of my home to actually accentuate it. I didn’t want to lose the original push button feature of the antique Yale lock, which comes with the EMTEK F20 mortise and the deadbolt is remarkably strong and assured in its operation. We did have to do some creative drilling of the original door and jamb to convert the new set to fit in place but once installed it looks like it had been there for years. The deadbolt also benefits from a heavy duty security plate that is so much more solid and safe feeling than the original. The door knob has a great smooth operation as does the interior latch and exterior thumb latch. I’m especially pleased EMTEK has designed the back plates to be just slightly larger than all of the old antiques out there so the installation can be done on the old doors without having to worry about marring or screw holes being revealed...these are all covered after installation.
